In the old days Matcha was exclusively for the imperial family and the samurais. Today Matcha is an established life style product available in various forms. only a few dozen tea farmers have the complex knowledge of the production method which uses Tencha leaves only. They grow in shaded plantations. After harvesting and drying the leaves are slowly being ground in granite stone mills into an ultra-fine jade green powder.
